Art Catalogue wins UVU Award!

Congratulations to our client Hartman Design Studio for their award winning work on the Garry Newton retrospective book, produced by Kallen Printing. The UVU award, presented by Unisource, recognizes design and print excellence across Canada.

A limited edition set of books – like a set of prints — were hand-numbered. A toothy printmaking-style of paper was chosen for the pages; a cream stock for the reproductions and white for the text. Fold out sections appear through out the book. To support the details in typography, a traditional word processor font was designed for titles and captions.

Back To School

With fall just around the corner, this vintage inspired collegiate piece produced by Kallen Printing brings timely inspiration! This clever self-promo, from Pollock Parke, was printed on a thick, luxurious uncoated stock. Each section was scored, french-folded, hand-collated, and finally sewn together, leaving the threads exposed.

Prospects can flip through the content, which features ethereal imagery of the Pollock Parke creative space. Once the brochure has served its original purpose, the perfed pages can be torn out to reveal bonus posters printed on the interior. 

The original illustrations and artwork inside, courtesy of talented "classmates", is inspired by the East Village neighbourhood where Pollock Parke is located. We give this piece an A+!

Black Metallic Pocket Folder

This lovely presentation folder recently produced at Kallen Print, was for Broadview Homes' 25th year in operation. The folder was offset printed with 2 hits of Black, a Pantone Blue and Metallic Silver ink plus a Dull and Gloss Varnish. Absolutely stunning!

Ok, with a name like Kallen, we are big fans of "Kallendars"! Kraft Stationery

Check out this simple, fun stationery package we recently produced at Kallen Print. 

We loved the wine stain design which tied in perfectly with the Kraft (grocery bag) paper! Offset printing was used so the ink soaks in to the paper fibers, as would real wine! Or so we've heard... as Swiss, we would never spill our wine!

Annual Report with Button & Tie Closure

"How We Connect" was the title of this Annual Report, recently completed at Kallen Printing. Beginning with unravelling the button and tie closure, a visual theme of connecting lines weaves throughout the piece.

The buttons were custom-made using Classic Crest Epic Black Cover in the new "Stipple" finish. The book was printed on uncoated paper, saddlestitched and flatbound. It also includes a fold-out map.
